Concrete Removal Stowmarket
The Art of Concrete Removal – Stowmarket
Project : Concrete removal of floor slab for new lift shaft
Location: Old Haymills House, Stowmarket
Client: A.C. Harding
This project involved the forming of a lift pit and openings through the first and second floor to accommodate a new lift being installed as the building was converted to a NHS facility. Drill Masters working for AC Harding had to form a lift pit in the ground floor measuring 4.4M x 2.4M through a 65mm screed and 150mm hollow plank floor to allow for a counter balance lift to be placed below ground level.
Drill Masters achieved this concrete removal Stowmarket project by using a 3 phase floor saw to divide the floor into manageable sections, with fine cutting with the diamond tipped handheld ringsaw. The cut sections could then be safely lifted out and disposed in the site skips.
The lift openings on the first and second floor were of the dimensions 1.8M by 1.6M through 65mm screed and 150mm hollow plank floor. These were more challenging to achieve as a crash deck had to be used to ensure the cut sections could not fall to the ground floor. To achieve this and make the sections more manageable for disposal they were cut into small blocks making them easier to transport to the skip. In total, Drill Masters took a total of three days to complete all the diamond cutting and the removal into the site skips.
