Many of the holes we drill in our eyes are simple and are needed to solve a regular straight forward problem such as getting a pipe through a wall. This was the case with a recent project we undertook to diamond drill in Kings Lynn. Our client required a water pipe and waste return pipes through a wall to enable them to relocate the kitchen and toilet facilities to a different part of the building to enable them to change the functionality of the building layout.
Drill Masters Ltd were required by the Borough Council of Kings Lynn and West Norfolk to diamond drill 2 no 200 diameter holes and 1 number 52 diameter hole through an external brick wall 600mm thick for the plumber to connect up the services. Some plumbers will attempt to diamond drill these holes themselves with dry diamond core sets as they feel it is cheaper than hiring professional diamond drilling Kings Lynn contractors. However, in the majority of times this is not the case and it also eradicates the problems associated with dry drilling, that of generating silica dust.
Before commencing on site Drill Masters had submitted Method Statement and Risk Assessments outlining all potential hazards and specific control methods, as it was a ‘live’ building these were varied. Our operative attended site when requested and had the holes drilled and the area tidied up before the plumber was ready to insert the pipes.
