Diamond Floor Sawing Ipswich – New Water Main
Diamond Floor Sawing Ipswich
Project : Diamond Floor sawing road for new water main
Location : Chantry, Ipswich
Client : Conroy Developments (Anglian Water)
Anglian Water are undertaking a water main replacement project throughout the Chantry estate in Ipswich. The project is to replace over 14km of the main over a 12 month period. The project is budgeted to cost £4.2M and involves upgrading the existing water pipes feeding over 4000 homes.
Conroy Developments are undertaking the laying of the new pipework on behalf of Anglian Water and they have contracted Drill Masters Ltd to diamond floor saw a trench in the road to allow for the digging of the trench and the new pipe to be laid. In total there is over 4KM of road to be dug up for the new main. Due to road closure restrictions they can only undertake the works in 100M sections before reinstating and moving to the next section.
Drill Masters attend to diamond floor saw the 300mm thick (150mm asphalt and 150mm concrete road) carriageway on both sides to form the trench. The contractor then breaks out the trench and digs down to lay the new water main before connecting up and back filling the trench. Due to the constraints on the working area Drill Masters are available at short turn around to ensure the project maintains its timescales. To complete the diamond floor sawing works Drill Masters are using a 900 diameter diesel driven floor saw with special 600 dia asphalt diamond cutting blades and 750 dia diamond concrete blades. Both these blades have been specified especially for the project to provide fast cutting speeds with minimum passes. Terry Wood, Contracts Manager for Conroys Group commented “Drill Masters have been very cooperative throughout this demanding scheme and continue to support us with a high-grade service”
