Diamond Floor Sawing – Royal Mail Peterborough

Diamond Floor Sawing Peterborough

Project : Diamond Floor Sawing for a new drainage trench

Location: Royal Mail Sorting Office, Peterborough

Client: Medlicott

This project involved the diamond floor sawing of a 60M long trench to the depth of 250mm in a reinforced concrete slab at the fleet workshop of Royal Mail Sorting office in Peterborough.  This trench was for a new drainage pipe to be installed into an existing manhole from the ‘adblue’ fuel pump service area.  Drill Masters Ltd were required to undertake the diamond floor sawing when the workshops were in use as they are used 24 hour a day 7 days a week to maintain the Royal Mail vehicle fleet.  Safety barriers were erected to provide protection form the moving vehicles and a compact diamond floor saw was used due to restrictions of space and to provide straight cut lines.

The full cut depth was achieved with a 600 diameter diamond floor sawing blade and a total of 6 passes to achieve the cut depth due to the thickness of the rebar in the slab.  The client then proceed to break out the trench before digging through the type 1 sub base and installing the new drainage pipe before concreting back over the trench.
