School Ipswich Ring Sawing

Project: Lift Shaft Opening
Location: Whitton Primary School in Ipswich
Client: Drake and Plant
Most Primary Schools are designed as single storey buildings but a 1940’s designed school, Whitton Primary School in Ipswich has an upper storey.
This presented the LEA and the school management with a problem, as two wheel chair users were due to enroll in the next academic year. With the disability act in mind an internal lift was the best solution. Drill Masters and their whole solution were engaged to cut a lift shaft access through the concrete first floor and concrete roof slab during half term. Our package included all hoardings, temporary propping, lifting and moving concrete sections and disposal off site.
Our staff completed the lift shaft cutting and on our last day we received a surprise visit by the headmistress. She was thrilled that so much was achieved without any mess. We all received Gold Stars and for your Ipswich Ring Sawing needs look no further.
