Jeweller Floor Expansion

Suffolk Chainsawing by Drill Masters

Project: Hinds Jewellers

Location: Tavern Street, Ipswich

Client: Carters Building

Unfortunately high street shops struggle to expand their sales floor. One solution is to buy the shop next door, a rare thing if you are located in a pedestrianised shopping street but one of our clients, with our help took on this challenge.  Our work was delivered in the conservation area in one of the oldest parts of Ipswich.

The only major problem was the difference in floor levels between the two units. The higher floor consisted of an reinforced concrete slab acquired during updating 5 years previous. The solution was to cut and remove this floor to allow a level sales floor to be installed throughout.

Drill Masters ‘whole solution’ was engaged to prop the existing deck, cut the floor into sections using ring saws and Hydraulic chainsaws and LPG power packs, lift out concrete and cart away off site with the added logistics problem that vehicle access was only allowed till 09.00hrs each day. The works were carried out to a tight programme to allow a complete refit in time to commence trading for the busy Christmas period.

Nobody wanted to be doing their Christmas shopping to the sounds of chainsawing, not even us.
